RightShip announced a new management standard for the dry bulk sector which aims to ensure the highest levels of safety, security and environmental excellence. The Dry Bulk Management Standard (DBMS) has been developed with input from dry bulk ship managers and industry experts.

As a first step, is required by dry bulk ship managers to meet the existing legal requirements (Basic Level). The next three levels(Intermediate Level, Advanced Level and Excellence Level) allow shipping companies to use best practices to raise their standards through a continuous improvement process.

The DBMS sets out 30 areas of management practice within four sections: Performance, People, Plant and Processes. Companies, which are improved in these four sections will deliver more safe, compliant and efficient operations, gaining a sustainable advantage over their competitors.
